Woodland Cellars

212 N Main Street, Hubbard

Woodland Cellars is not just a winery, it’s also the first “meadery” in the Mahoning Valley. This winery got its start in the basement of owners Nate and Dani Wilson. Woodland Cellars opened its location on Hubbard’s main street in 2018 and has been delighting locals and visitors ever since.

The wine selection here features both reds and whites including a Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Concord, and Moscato. The meads are made from a 700-year-old recipe using locally sourced wildflower honey. The original Eye of Odin mead is a semi-sweet honey wine. You can also enjoy the Jormungandr spiced mead with flavors of cinnamon, elderflower, and vanilla. The Pumpkin Spiced Mead features Eye of Odin with pumpkin spices, while the Coffee Infused mead combines Eye of Odin and dark roast coffee.

L’uva Bella Winery

6597 Center Road, Lowellville

Founded in 2001, L’uva Bella has grown quickly to become the largest producer of wine and wine juice in the state of Ohio. The winery sources its grapes from the finest wine regions in the country including parts of California, Washington state, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. L’uva Bella maintains five distinct collections including the Reserve Collection, Vino Borealis Collection, Purple Rain Collection, Passion Collection, and Red’s Collection.

At the winery, you can enjoy all of these fine wines alongside a full menu of food. While the obligatory charcuterie board is included on the menu, you’ll also find several heartier mains to choose from when you want something more substantial to eat. Try options like the gourmet Bella Burger with Cabernet-braised onions, herbed goat cheese, and sun-dried tomato aioli, or the Linguine in a white wine clam sauce. The menu also includes an assortment of pizzas, salads, sandwiches, wraps, pastas, and desserts.

Mastropietro Winery

14558 Ellsworth Road, Berlin Center

The family-owned Mastropietro Winery was founded in 2005. The Tuscan-inspired environment includes a kitchen, banquet room, tasting room, sports bar, and gift shop. The estate grounds feature a patio seating area, two pavilions, a gazebo, gas fire pits, and a one-acre lake. This is the only winery in Mahoning County to maintain its own vineyard producing grapes for harvest. The estate grows Chambourcin, Frontenac, and Vidal Blanc varietals. These are used along with a selection of imported grapes from Northern California.

Mastropietro Winery produces a selection of reds such as a a Cabernet, Merlot, Chambourcin, and more. Its whites include a Riesling, Chardonnay, Dolce Bianco, and Sauvignon Blanc, among others. You’ll also find specialty wines like red or white sangria, Frontenac port, and wine slushies. On weekends, you can purchase food from a variety of food trucks. On Sundays, you may bring your own food or order in from nearby pizzerias. The winery also offers snacks like hummus, cheese, crackers, and spinach and artichoke dip.

Halliday’s Winery

2400 NE River Road, Lake Milton

Halliday’s Winery sits on the land that Jesse Halliday settled in 1804. The winery enjoys a picturesque location between the Olde Dutch Mill golf course and Lake Milton. Halliday’s Winery offers a selection of distinctive reds like the semi-sweet Darak Sunrise, sweet Craig’s Landing, or dry Jesse’s Red. The selection of whites includes a Sweet Sarah, the semi-dry Princetown Original, and Jacob’s Choice, a Pinot Grigio blend. You’ll also find sangria, frose, and mead.

If you need a bite to eat with your wines, you can order an appetizer like the cheese and meat tray or enjoy a flatbread pizza, panini, or sandwich. If your wine is begging for a sweet pairing, try the dessert waffle or a rich slice of New York-style cheesecake.

The Vineyards at Pine Lake

14101 Market Street, Columbiana

The Vineyards at Pine Lake was established in 2016. This is a great choice if you’re looking for romantic restaurants, as the tasting room restaurant and elegant event spaces overlook beautiful Pine Lake. You can also dine on the covered outdoor patio, seasonal lower patio, or inside the dining room. The restaurant offers a full menu prepared by Chef Dave Gabbert.

The Vineyards at Pine Lake produce a diverse selection of wines including a Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Chardonnay. The lineup also includes three estate-grown wines: the Vineyards White, Vineyards Red, and Lindale. These are not sold at any other location.

Charbenay’s Wine on the River

220 W Market Street, Warren

Charbenay’s is a dream come true for co-owners Charlene Butcher and Ben Natali, from whom the name was derived. The seven wines produced under this label are available exclusively at the winery. These include the sweet red River Rock Table Wine, California Chardonnay, California Char’s Private Blend, California Pinot Grigio, California Cabernet Sauvignon, Dar’s Rose, and California Moscato. The winery also serves a selection of other local wines, bottled beers, and signature cocktails, making it a nice alternative for a party interested in both brewery and winery offerings.

Pair your decadent drinks with equally delicious dishes at the winery restaurant. The menu includes entrees like a hearty California steak burger, smoked half chicken, cedar plan salmon, and spaghetti aglio e olio. For something lighter, you can try appetizers like flatbread and fried calamari or the loaded Charcuterie board.
