The GMC Sierra 1500 is available with a variety of cab and bed combinations. The base-level Pro comes with 17-inch painted silver wheels, the SLE features 17-inch six-spoke Bright Silver alloy wheels, the SLT has 18-inch wheels, and the Elevation and Denali feature 20-inch wheels. The Denali Ultimate rolls on exclusive 22-inch wheels with bright chrome accents. GMC designed the AT4 and AT4X for off-roading with all-terrain tires.

LED headlights and automatic high beams come standard in the Pro. The SLE adds LED bed lighting, and the Elevation offers LED fog lights. Cab Size

The Sierra 1500 Pro is available with a regular, double, or crew cab. The SLE and Elevation come as a double or crew cab, while the AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate, and SLT are only available with a crew cab.

Towing Capacity

Several factors impact the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500’s towing capacity. With the 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder engine, the Sierra can tow up to 9,500 pounds. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine equips this truck to tow up to 11,200 pounds. With the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8 with dynamic fuel management or the DuraMax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel I-6, you can tow up to 13,200 pounds.

Performance

The Sierra 1500 Pro, SLE, and Elevation come standard with the 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 5.3-liter V-8 is optional and delivers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The SLT and Denali are available with the 5.3-liter V-8, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine with 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, or a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The powerful AT4 and AT4X come standard with the diesel engine, though the 6.2-liter V-8 is optional. The Denali Ultimate comes standard with the 6.2-liter V-8, but the diesel engine is optional.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel efficiency of the GMC Sierra 1500 varies by trim and powertrain, creating a wide range of possible combinations. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine that’s most common in the Sierra 1500 offers 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. The optional diesel engine does far better, getting 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

Interior

The base-level Sierra 1500 Pro packs plenty of comforts into the cab, including a 7-inch touch screen, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The Pro has cloth or vinyl upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, and vinyl floor coverings.

You’ll find added comforts in the SLE, such as carpeted flooring, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also has a 13.4-inch touch-screen infotainment display, a full-color 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a digital instrument panel. You’ll get two more USB ports in the SLE and two 120-volt power outlets. The Elevation has all the features of the SLE with the addition of cloth upholstery.

The SLT has leather upholstery and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. The adjustable driver’s seat has memory settings, so you can save your favorite seating configuration.

The AT4 offers ample comforts, including ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a premium seven-speaker Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad. With the AT4X, you’ll also get a head-up display, virtual rearview camera, and bed-view camera, so you’ll always know what’s happening. The AT4X also has a power-sliding rear window and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Denali offers a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel for optimal customization. You’ll also find heated second-row seats and ventilated front seats. The Denali Ultimate offers similar amenities and adds open-pore wood trim, ample leather-covered surfaces, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. The front seats in the Denali Ultimate have 16-way power adjustments and offer massage functions.

Cargo Space

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 has 71.7 square feet of cargo volume with the standard 6-foot-6 bed. With the long 8-foot bed, this increases to 89.1 square feet of cargo volume. The short 5-foot-8 bed configuration provides 62.9 square feet of cargo volume.

The Sierra 1500 is also available with GMC’s MultiPro tailgate, which folds out in various ways to increase your options for loading, carrying, and accessing cargo. The tailgate has a folding load stop to keep items in place, an inner gate you can lower to get several inches closer to the tailgate, and a two-tier loading design complete with an inner gate load stop for the upper storage tier.
