GMC Yukon XL 8,300 lbs
GMC Hummer 7,500 lbs

Buick Encore

The Buick Encore offers spirited driving in a compact SUV package that’s agile enough to navigate tight city streets and has an available all-wheel-drive system for enhanced traction and control over various road surfaces and weather conditions. Unfortunately, the Encore wasn’t engineered for towing a trailer.

Buick Encore GX

Buick elevates the Encore GX with more premium interiors and offers two powertrain configurations across its three trims. The Preferred and Select models have a 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. A 1.3-liter turbo four is available on the Select trim and comes standard on the top-of-the-range Essence model. This engine puts out 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. In addition, Buick offers a towing package for the Encore GX that enables you to tow up to 1,000 pounds.

Buick Envision

Loaded with premium touches, including heated, massaging seats and leather upholstery, the Envision seats five in luxurious comfort. Under the hood, you’ll find a powerful EcoTec inline four-cylinder turbo engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

You can dial up attitude with the ST package that adds sporty style or opt for the Avenir trim that delivers first-class luxury appointments like heated and ventilated seats, quilted leather upholstery, and more. In addition, every Envision model can tow up to 1,500 pounds when you add the trailer package.

Buick Enclave

Buick’s largest SUV model, Enclave, comes in the Preferred, Select, and Essence trim levels, plus the ST and Avenir special editions. This three-row SUV seats up to seven. You get premium cloth on the lower trims and leather seats with heat and ventilation on the top models. In-vehicle tech runs through a touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto pre-installed.

Every model uses a 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain produces an impressive 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

GMC Terrain

GMC offers the Terrain in four trim levels. The base model SLE comes nicely equipped with GMC’s Traction Select system and a full suite of driver-assist technologies designed to help you drive safely. The SLT model offers upgrades in technology and comfort, while the AT4 trim comes with off-road style and equipment to better leave the pavement behind. Terrain’s top-tier Denali model comes with all the premium features you crave.

Every Terrain trim comes with GMC’s 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this powertrain makes 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque and tows up to 1,500 pounds when you add the trailer hitch and wiring harness.

GMC Acadia

One of the few midsize SUVs with three rows, the Acadia seats up to seven passengers. GMC makes the Acadia in the same four trims as the Terrain, each building off the last as you move up the levels. However, you have two powertrain options. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder comes standard in the SLE and SLT trims. This engine puts out 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and tows up to 1,000 pounds.

A 3.6-liter V-6 engine capable of 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque comes with the AT4 and Denali models. However, adding the Trailering Package gives you a Class III hitch, a seven-pin wiring harness, a heavy-duty cooling system, and a hitch guidance system. As a result, this configuration lets you tow 4,000 pounds.

GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

This full-size SUV offers impressive cabin space for up to eight people, or you can fold the second and third rows for more cargo. In addition, you get the same four trim levels as the Terrain and Acadia, plus a Denali Ultimate trim, the pinnacle of GMC luxury and technology.

A 5.3-liter V-8 engine comes on the lower trims. This engine produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Or, you can opt for the 6.2-liter V-8 engine capable of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. And there’s the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The Yukon has a maximum towing capacity of 8,400 pounds, while the XL variant drops slightly to 8,300 pounds.

GMC Hummer

GMC makes the Hummer in an SUV and pickup model. This all-electric SUV/pickup was built for speed, harnessing a 1,000-horsepower electric motor powertrain. As a result, it clocks a time of zero to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds. In addition, the Hummer comes with heavy off-road equipment and capability. And it boasts a torque output of 11,500 lb-ft that helps the Hummer tow 7,500 pounds.

Chevy Trax

If you’re looking for a compact SUV, the Trax from Chevy delivers performance, comfort, and style. Every Trax comes with standard driver-assist technology and has an impressive 48.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity. But, unfortunately, the Trax wasn’t built to tow a trailer.

Chevy Trailblazer

Longer and more athletic than the Trax, the Trailblazer might be the largest small SUV we’ve ever seen. Chevy uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine in the lower trims and a 1.3-liter engine in the top-tier models. Regardless of the engine, you can tow up to 1,000 pounds with the stylish Trailblazer.

Chevy Equinox

Smaller families love the five-passenger Equinox loaded with amenities, power, and curb appeal. A 1.5-liter engine powers the Equinox, and available all-wheel-drive helps you stay in control. When properly equipped, the Equinox can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Chevy Blazer

The athletic, sporty, midsize Blazer catches everyone’s eyes. The reboot of the Blazer comes with incredible style and amazing comfort. With Chevy’s 2.0-liter turbo engine, you can tow up to 1,500 pounds. Moving up to the 3.6-liter V-6 engine, your towing capacity reaches 4,500 pounds.

Chevy Traverse

Finally, you’ve found a midsize three-row SUV with powerful performance and all the creature comforts you crave with the Traverse. The cavernous Traverse has seating for up to eight people. With the second and third rows folded flat, you open up 98.2 cubic feet of cargo area. All six trim levels come with the same 3.6-liter V-6 engine. When properly equipped, the Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Chevy Tahoe

Full-size fun comes with every Tahoe with seating for up to nine and 122.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Plus, you get the powerful 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter gas V-8 engines to choose from, or you can opt for the Duramax turbo-diesel engine. Towing capacities vary between powertrain and model options, ranging from 7,400 pounds up to 8,400 pounds.

Chevy Suburban

Chevy’s redesigned Suburban has redefined the full-size SUV segment. Seating for up to nine means you can take the kids, their friends, and the dog along on your next road trip. It features the same three engine options as the Tahoe but with slightly different results. On the low end, it can tow up to 7,700 pounds, but because of its size, it tops out at an 8,200-pound towing capacity.
